They do not adapt to Indian climates and cannot tolerate hot weather. He needs to be kept inside the house at all times. They require regular grooming and his mouth needs to be wiped after eating and drinking water, as they drool. They need to be trained while young, when their size is still manageable. Treats and praises can be used as rewards as they do not respond to harsh methods. Owning a Saint Bernard requires lot of attention, care and goes big on cost.
